SkyBears Kennels Bernedoodle & Sheepadoodle Breeder in Lincolnshire, UK
I had already bred Newfoundlands from my home. My passion for Newfoundland dogs comes from my childhood. I grew up living with four huge Newfoundlands in my house. When it comes to breeding animals in the home, the nature of a home setting makes it challenging to consistently achieve a high standard of cleanliness. To address this I created a dedicated, purpose-built kennels.
I wanted the process of collecting a puppy to be a magical; a day that people will always remember. I made SkyBears Kennel a beautiful, welcoming place where puppies and dogs live happily and comfortably, with high standards of cleanliness and furnishings. A boutique hotel for dogs.

Our Puppy Rearing & Socialisation Process
Bernedoodles and Sheepadoodles are the perfect breed for just about every family. By relying on extensively health-tested parents, we take pride in helping our puppies foster secure and loving temperaments.
SkyBears kennel facilitates puppies to follow their mum outside to go to the toilet, making toilet training very easy – many owners say their puppies are almost toilet trained when they arrive. Our Activity Playrooms mean the puppies mum gets a well deserved break back with her friends while the puppies gain confidence without her and with new people. This idyllic environment means puppies are completely socialised with adults and children, cats, hoover, dishwasher, older dogs and older puppies before they go to their new homes. The same as in any home.
I wanted to create a sociable atmosphere where owners can meet each other. We call these Parent’s Days: a social event for new owners to visit their puppies at 5 to 6 weeks old. It is intended to be a fun, party-like day where parents can meet their puppies, connect with each other, and share their excitement. And once the puppies go to their new homes, many owners stay in touch through our Facebook Groups, offering help and building a community of happy SkyBears Parents.
My passion remains in breeding family-suited Doodles that love everyone and everything without the issues that some pure breeds have. Rearing puppies from extensively health-tested parents in a caring, loving environment, every challenge has strengthened my dedication, and I’m more committed than ever to sharing the magic of owning a puppy from SkyBears Kennels.

Are your puppies F1 or F1b?
At SkyBears Kennel, we breed F1 , F1b and F2 Bernedoodles and Sheepedoodles.
- F1 Bernedoodles are first-generation crosses, meaning they are 50% Bernese Mountain Dog and 50% Poodles
- An F1 Sheepadoodle is a first-generation hybrid dog resulting from the mating of a purebred Old English Sheepdog and a purebred Poodle.
- An F1b Bernedoodle is a “backcross” generation of Bernedoodle, resulting from breeding an F1 Bernedoodle (a 50/50 mix of Bernese Mountain Dog and Poodle) with a purebred Poodle, typically
- An F1b Sheepadoodle is a hybrid dog breed produced by crossing an F1 Sheepadoodle (a first-generation mix of Old English Sheepdog and Poodle) with a Poodle.
- F2 Bernedoodles are second-generation Bernedoodles, resulting from the crossbreeding of two F1 Bernedoodles.
- F2 Sheepdoodles are second-generation Sheepdoodles, resulting from the crossbreeding of two F1 Sheepdoodles.
How much do your puppies cost?
Our puppies are priced according to their colours. Prices cost between £1,000 to £4,000 but please get in touch with Louise directly on 07546 166315 if there is a specific breed and colour you would like.
Do you check all the parents of the puppies before breeding?
Yes. As a 5-Star Licensed Council Breeder, all our dams and sires undergo rigorous testing before breeding to ensure our puppies are healthy and of a good temperament. The parents are checked as follows:
- Labkolin genetic testing (breed specific where breed relevant)
- Degenerative Myelopathy (DM) Exon 2
- Von Willebrand Disease (VWD) Type 1
- (NE) Hips, Elbows, Heart Doplar
All our dogs score under 10. To breed responsibly with the Kennel Club restrictions dogs must score under 30 (nearest to zero is best). This demonstrates our continued commitment to breeding healthy puppies that you will love.
Are your puppies vet checked?
Yes. All our puppies are vet checked for eyesight, hearing, respiratory system, heart murmurs, skin and teeth.
Puppies are wormed every two weeks with Panacur and Drontal alternatively. We use Frontline Plus for fleas, ticks, lice and mites at age 6 weeks. You would need to use this again at 12 weeks.
How do I select my puppy?
If you are ready to welcome a puppy into your home, please get in touch with Louise Tomlinson directly on 07546 166315.
Next, wait for the announcement of the due date for your chosen litter. We notify our community via announcements through our Facebook Group pages.
When the litter is born we will post collective photos and some videos as your litter grows. However, we interfere with the puppies as little as possible until they are 2 weeks old and thriving. From this age we know the puppies are doing well and the mum is more accepting of the puppies being touched or moved. It’s at this age we’ll hold video calls so that you can see and choose your puppy.
When is your next litter?
At SkyBears kennel, we breed Bernedoodle and Sheepadoodle every 1 to 2 months. Please get in touch with us around two months before you are ready to select your puppy. The puppies will either be conceived, born or ready to collect. We recommend joining our Facebook Sheepadoodle Facebook Group or Bernedoodle Facebook Group so that you can keep an eye out for relevant litters.
Do you have a waiting list?
We prefer not to run waiting lists as peoples’ circumstances can change. However, we’re happy to take your name and let you know when a specific litter is born.
What is your selection criterion for prospective owners?
Our criteria is that both family members don’t work full time away from home. This ensures that the puppy is not alone for more than a couple of hours when it is still a puppy, and no more than a few hours as an adult.
The size of peoples home does not matter as Bernedoodles and Sheepadoodles are not high energy in the home and just love to be with people.
Again, the size of the garden doesn’t matter as they can of course be walked. However, the garden must be securely puppy-proofed before arrival as puppies are easily lost – or worse.
Do you take a deposit?
Yes. The deposit to hold a puppy is £500. If your vet finds any issue with the puppy within 7 days of taking it home then we offer a full refund, including your deposit, once the puppy has been returned to us. However, please note that this has never happened as our puppies are vetted before leaving us.
When can I collect my puppy?
Your puppy will be ready to leave SkyBears Kennel when it turns 8 weeks old. We are able to continue caring for your puppy for a further 7 days, after which you will be charged £50 per week for food and board, unless otherwise previously agreed.
Do you undertake vaccinations?
We prefer not to vaccinate the puppies as vets often say the first vaccine is not compatible with the second, and make people start the course again.
It’s also best to settle the puppy in the home for a couple of days first before vaccinating as they can go off food after vaccination, which is not a good start in a new home! Please make sure they are eating well, happy and settled before the first vaccine.
On occasion, for example if you have a holiday planned, SkyBears is able to do both vaccinations at 8 and 10 weeks if it fits better with your preferred collection date. In this case the vaccine would be Lepto 2 and we charge £55 for each vaccine. This way your puppy can go outside not long after you collect them.
What do you feed your dogs and puppies?
All adults and puppies at SkyBears Kennel are fed a raw diet. Puppies are weaned onto a chicken or turkey mince as this is easy to digest.
The gut bacteria needed to handle raw is very different to that needed for cooked or tinned processed meat. We gradually build up the gut bacteria to be able to handle all raw food. At 5 weeks the puppies are eating organ meat, i.e. liver, kidney and heart.
We recommend buying a variety of raw beef and chicken etc. Durham Animal Feeds online has the perfect 80/10/10 ratio a complete diet needs, so you need to feed nothing else with it. They deliver through DHL in frozen weekly / fortnightly / monthly boxes. There is also a raw kibble that can be bought with the same 80/10/10 ratio called Eden or Wolfworthy.
What does my purchase include?
The purchase of your puppy includes:
- Puppy vet check
- Microchip with the microchip details
- Appropriate information about what we have used for worming and treatments for fleas, mites, lice and ticks
- A Puppy Pack with a week’s worth of the raw food they are eating
- Scent blanket from mum and siblings, and toys
- Invoice and contract of sale
- Access to a helpful breed-specific Facebook Group
- Lifetime of help or advice over the telephone
Do you have a Warranty?
Yes. Please take your puppy to your chosen vet within 7 days of taking it home. Your vet will most likely perform a health check on them; this is usually free as you are registering your puppy with them at the same time. If your vet finds any fault that deems the puppy not fit for sale or purpose, we refund the cost of your puppy in full, including the deposit. However, this is very unlikely and has never happened as our vet has already checked the puppy prior to leaving SkyBears.
I have another dog that I want to move to a raw food diet. How do I do this?
If you have other dogs in your household and want to move them to a raw food diet, it must be done gradually. This is because the gut bacteria needed to deal with a raw food diet is significantly different to what your dog has become accustomed to on a cooked meat diet. A quick change will make them sick as they just can’t handle it.
Start with little bits of raw chicken, then each week gradually introduce something else, e.g. turkey as this is easier to digest. After 2 weeks on this diet, you can then introduce them to organ meat.
Can you help me choose harnesses and collars?
Yes! We have a well stocked puppy/dog shop at SkyBears Kennel and we’d be happy to help with anything you need for your new puppy. We can help fit harnesses and collars, and we also supply beds, crates, grooming kits and clippers – pretty much anything you may need for your puppy.
We also have a huge selection of toys (soft and indestructible!) and treats – from chews and bones to training treats.
